Three local GP Practices, South Lewisham Group Practice, The Jenner Practice and Bellingham Green Surgery are going to be working more closely together from July 2018 so that we can offer our patients improved services. All three of us are fully committed to NHS values and the provision of excellent care to our patients. We have known each other for many years and worked on projects in the past.
There are no plans at all to close any of the sites!
We are merging to create a new division of a GP super-partnership called Modality Partnership.
Modality Partnership is a GP organisation that operates across England. Being part of the Modality Partnership means that we will be able to obtain expert advice and have more say about patient care.
Super-partnership’s combine the advantages of small GP practices who know their patients and work closely in local communities, with the medical and technological advances of a larger organisations.
In the future, you can expect improvements to our services, such as offering more care services closer to home including setting up community outpatient services, to reduce the need for patients to attend hospital. Modality Partnership have been at the forefront of General Practice care and have been nationally recognised for their achievements in this area.
Recently Modality Partnership were part of an NHS England national programme, set up to transform care patients receive from their GP practice. You can read more about how Modality Partnership operates on their website.
Initially you will see very little difference at the three surgeries, except for the Modality logo, all our staff team and appointments will remain the same. In time we will plan and carefully change the way we offer services to patients. We will discuss changes with the patient participation groups of the surgeries.
All the doctors at the three sites believe this is the right thing to do so we can continue to improve services to our patients and remain strong NHS practices.
