Our Appointment System
During the past few months we have been overhauling our appointment system following feedback from our Patient Participation group and listening to your complaints. We have now intoduced a new appointment system which started on Monday 31st October 2016. There will no longer be a daily walk in service.
Under our old system, we found that some patients were not able to get an appointment when they needed one and others were getting appointments when they didn't really need one. We also found patients were often not able to see the doctor of their choice and that our high DNA (did not attend) rate wasted appointments.
Under our new system we have increased the number of pre-bookable appointments; these appointments will be available throughout the week. Patients wanting an urgent appointment will be placed on a “triage list” and the on-call doctor will assess the urgent requests. Many of these requests will be managed over the phone with advice or a prescription. Those patients that the doctor decides need to be seen, will be seen by our nurse practitioner, our Pharmacist or the on-call doctor, whoever is appropriate.
We will continue to offer patients the option of a face to face or telephone consultation. We will also monitor the new appointment system on a regular basis and tweak the system if needed.
Each day the surgery has an on call doctor to cover emergency/acute problems. If you think you may require a home visit please call before 10am if possible so that the duty doctor can speak to you in order to decide if a home visit is necessary. You may also telephone the duty doctor for urgent advice. You will need to leave a contact number and the doctor will respond as soon as possible.

Follow up appointments (letter received)
You may receive a letter, text or email requesting you to make an appointment to see the doctor, please book with the doctor who arranged the test for you. If you book online, please mention this in the comments box. If you telephone the surgery please mention this to the receptionist when booking your appointment
Extended hours appointments
We have adjusted our consulting times to accommodate patients who work. We hope that these appointments will attract this group of people, enabling them to access the surgery out of normal hours. These extra early and late appointments will be available 2 weeks in advance.
Extended hours appointments will be offered on:
|Monday||7.30am until 8am AND 6.30pm until 7pm|
|Tuesday||7.30am until 8am|
|Thursday||7.30am until 8am|
